You are cordially invited to our Virtual Picnic on September 9th, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Every year, this event honors the achievements of our clients and their contributions to the local economy. As always, we will be showcasing products and services from EGBI clients. Picnic pack filled with food and surprises will be delivered to participants on the day of the event. Then we will come together online for some fellowship and a short program.
Since 2011, EGBI has provided assistance to over 2,000 individuals looking to start or grow their small business. From 2011 – 2020, EGBI businesses have generated over $130 million in revenue and supported over 160 full-time employees.
This pandemic has been especially challenging for small businesses. In response to the shelter in place order, EGBI immediately began offering all of its services remotely. We have been meeting weekly with clients in online groups in Spanish and English to answer questions and share the most recent information that can benefit them. We also helped many of them apply for Paycheck Protection Program and SBA loans. We are providing ongoing business coaching and help with money management and budgets. Clients can find up to date information on our COVID resource page and in our private EGBI Alumni Group on Facebook.
We have been keeping track on how many of our clients have received the SBA assistance and guiding them on how to use it wisely and within guidelines. Some have used the down time to get their finances in better order, get more organized, and better their marketing strategies. In the true spirit of our mission to provide training, coaching, and support to aspiring and existing business owners who face barriers to growing a successful business, we are not charging for any of our classes or services at this time.
Each picnic pack will include a meal for two that includes:
Ropa Vieja (shredded beef slowly cooked in tomato base sauce, onion, bell peppers) from Cuba 512
Homemade Potato Salad (potato, celery, bell peppers, peas, scallions, spices)
Mexican Street Corn off the cob (Queso Fresco, goat cheese, sour cream, lime juice and spices)
Sides from Alegria Catering & Fiestas
Brownies from Lil’ Mama’s Kitchen
Some other surprises.
Raffle tickets available for your chance to win:

Bottle of Flecha Azul Tequila Añejo by Red Carpet Productions
Assorted basket of EGBI clients products and services
“EGBI is an organization that truly cares for small businesses. They listen, take the time to know you and your business to better understand your situation and provide the right guidance and resources according to your needs.” Nayeli Gallegos, President at Red Carpet Productions, LLC and EGBI Alumni
“I am honored to work for an organization whose clients are trying to provide a better life for their families and their employees. Our clients are truly living the American dream.” Barbra Boeta, Executive Director of EGBI
Sponsorship opportunities are available throughout the year. Your support helps us connect individuals to the resources and education they need to make them successful business owners. As you may know, although Austin is an awesome city for small businesses, not everyone has equal access to great resources. We hope you view this as an opportunity that needs to be addressed, and that you join our efforts and help us create, grow and sustain successful grassroots businesses, contributing to Austin’s economy and the prosperity of their families.
If you are an EGBI client and would like to participate in this year’s event, please contact Monica Peña (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If interested in purchasing tickets to virtual event, early bird tickets including picnic offerings pricing before August is $50 and $75 regular price. Click AQUÍ. Please contact Monica Peña, email@example.com (512-928-2594).
